Affordable Coverage:

Does OHIP cover me for out-of-country travel?

From December 31, 2019 OHIP no longer has limited Out-of-Country Travellers Program. This means that if you’re travelling abroad you are no longer covered by your provincial plan. OHIP previously covered out-of-country inpatient services up to $400 per day for higher levels of care like intensive care, as well up to $50 per day for emergency outpatient and doctor services.

Members can submit new travel insurance claims via a user-friendly, mobile responsive online claims submission portal. For members at the very beginning of their claims journey, the portal provides a smoother, more efficient experience, while keeping them informed at each stage along the way.

The online claims portal is accessible 24/7 from any device or browser.
